Employee Assistance
Programs (EAPs)
People have always been the greatest asset to any company and
gaining top performance from staff ultimately translates into increased revenue
and growth. Research shows that when personal issues arise, productivity
declines.
CBHNP, in partnership with the Penn Foundation, has been
offering EAP services specially designed to meet the unique needs of
Pennsylvania Employers since 1995. By providing over 80 counseling locations
throughout the state and a full array of services conveniently located for
employees, CBHNP has emerged as a behavioral health leader. In partnership with
the Penn Foundation, CBHNP understands the challenges facing employers and
employees throughout the state and offers programs that will assist companies
to:
-
-
-
Decrease Employee Turnover
-
Increase Job Satisfaction
-
-
All of this is accomplished, while helping employees find
work/life balances that will improve the quality of their lives and the lives
of their families.
Balancing Work/Life Challenges
Juggling the demands of work and family every day can be a
challenge for any employee. Stress at home or on the job can reduce an
employee’s productivity, and has been shown to increase absenteeism and
illness. An EAP can help employees achieve some balance, by providing
counseling and referral services in a timely and confidential manner. In many
instances, early involvement with an EAP may reduce expensive intervention for
Mental Illness, or Substance Abuse, and help an individual cope with other
conflicts before they get out of control. Our EAP provides confidential,
professional counseling, education, and referral services for Members and their
families that help with a variety of work/life problems, such as:
-
-
-
-
Marital and Relationship Problems
-
Alcohol or Other Drug Problems
-
-
-
Financial or Legal Concerns
-

Sensitive and Employee Oriented Approach
Sometimes the EAP process is regarded by employees as a step
in the company’s disciplinary process, which restricts the voluntary
utilization of a very important benefit. But at CBHNP we believe the success of
any program can be measured in the use of the services that are offered. Our
philosophy and experience has shown that an organization gains the most value
from their EAP when employees feel comfortable using the counseling and
referral services that are available. With an EAP staff that consists of
individuals with extensive experience in providing care, and that has a
professional orientation towards solving problems, we are confident that the
services we offer are sensitive to the needs of the employee.
Confidentiality is extremely important. The employee must be
assured that his or her visit is entirely private. No information discussed on
the telephone or in person will be shared with the employer or other
individuals except with the employee’s express permission.
There will be situations when an individual’s problem impacts
on his or her ability to perform a specific job. When the EAP is requested to
intervene, CBHNP’s actions will be sensitive and employee-oriented, and every
effort will be made to affect a safe, productive return to work.
Problems at home and in the work place are not restricted to
normal business hours, and many situations just can’t wait. CBHNPs Member
agencies have telephone hotlines available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Professional staff is employed around the clock to take calls, assess problems,
and make timely decisions for referrals. If emergency intervention is
necessary, we have the resources to assist an individual quickly and
effectively.
CBHNP offers a statewide network that permits employees and
their family’s personal visits in a geographically convenient location. CBHNP
believes that access can also be improved by keeping it simple. Employees do
not have to face a mountain of paperwork, or incur additional expenses when
they call or come in for a visit.
CBHNP offers a full spectrum of EAP services to clients to
enhance their benefits package. We tailor an EAP to meet the specific
requirements of an organization. We refer to service providers that are locally
based, and preferred by employees and their families. We listen to the needs of
an organization, and design a benefit model that is responsive and effective,
and conforms to company specific policies and compliance issues.

CBHNP Partners with Organizations
We believe that a strong outreach campaign is vital to the
success of an EAP and CBHNP partners with a company to educate and continually
remind employees of the existence of the program and how to access it. Several
mediums are used to accomplish this goal including:
Training Programs – for employees and management
-
Posters – detailing the EAP within the worksite
-
Payroll Stuffers – to inform all employees of EAP benefits and
how to access services
-
Newsletter Articles – customized to company specific
information
-
On-Site Orientation – for all employees
-
Brochures – customized to company specific benefits package
CBHNP is convinced that the success of an EAP depends on
corporate embracement of the program on all managerial levels and the degree to
which the employees are made aware of the services and how to access help. To
this end, CBHNP partners with organizations to ensure total success of the EPA
that not only increases production, but also improves employee lives.
