History and Background

CBHNP was founded in 1994 by leading behavioral health providers that were Members of the Pennsylvania Community Providers Association (PCPA) and was incorporated in May 1995. The goal of the organization was, and remains, to manage public and commercial behavioral health programs through administrative and risk-assuming contracts. The cornerstone of the CBHNP model is to find every possible way to maximize dollars available to care, effectively and efficiently manage programs, while keeping administration costs to a minimum.

CBHNP has since expanded its public and private sector business dramatically and has achieved its success through its partnership approach to contracting, its mission-driven philosophy, and its commitment to quality. As a leading behavioral health service company, CBHNP provides services to insurers and government entities. Managing behavioral health and related human services for almost 4 million lives, CBHNP specializes in providing innovative solutions for commercial and public entities.

Today, CBHNP is a subsidiary of the AmeriHealth Mercy Family of Companies. AmeriHealth Mercy and its affiliates comprise the largest family of Medicaid managed care plans in the United States. AmeriHealth Mercy is a mission-driven organization, dedicated to ensuring the delivery of quality health care to low-income populations covered by publicly-funded programs throughout the United States.
