Biographies of CBHNP Leadership

Rajnikant Lad, MD, FAPA
Medical Director

As the Medical Director at CBHNP, Dr. Lad leads the development and direction of all clinical activities along with quality improvement initiatives. He brings with him experience in direct patient care, development of clinical services, and a desire to assist children and families navigate often complex behavioral health care systems.

Dr. Lad was born and raised in Kenya and attended the University of Sheffield in England where he received his medical education. He was awarded the Fogarty International Fellowship to conduct research at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland where he published peer-reviewed articles in Molecular Neurobiology while working in the laboratory of Molecular Genetics of the Nobel Laureate Dr. Marshall Nierenberg. He completed his internship in Medicine and residency training in Adult Psychiatry at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Lad also completed a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic (WPIC) of the University of Pittsburgh. He has treated children, adolescents and adults in academic centers, outpatient clinics, residential treatment facilities, community mental health centers and hospitals throughout Pennsylvania. He has worked in managed care for five years and currently is the Medical Director at CBHNP, a Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the Penn State College of Medicine, and Vice Chair of the Department of Psychiatry at Chambersburg Hospital. Dr. Lad has over 15 years experience in the behavioral health field as a psychiatrist for adults, adolescents, and children working with both individuals and groups.
